Best Aquarium Freshwater Fish When You've Just Started

Are you a fish lover and need some freshwater aquarium information because you?re having hard times in choosing the best aquarium fish? Torn with your choices? If your interest is to take care of fish, that?s the first thing to have in order for to prepare for a beautiful fish tank. Taking care of fish is fun and exciting. If you don?t know how to start, well, this article can give you information about freshwater aquarium fish.

There are countless varieties of aquarium freshwater fish, and this can be both a good thing and a bad thing. I say bad because there are some fish that either require special care or they are more temperamental. These fish are more demanding and therefore are not the best fish for the beginner's first aquarium. Sometimes it is not easy for the beginner who is picking out fish to know the good (easy) from the bad (temperamental) which can lead to frustration and wasted money on new fish.

With that in mind, here is a quick starter list of fish that are ideally suited for the novice. They are beautiful, active, and most importantly, hardy fish. That's not to say buying these fish is an excuse for lax care and maintenance it just means that minor fluctuations in temperature or pH won't cause them to be lost.

Guppies are one of the easiest fishes to breed. They are hardy, cheap and have numerous beautiful species. Guppies with long, flowing, multicoloured fins are specifically the male ones. When these male guppies swam into the upper and middle levels of the aquarium, generally, they are quite active. They will survive with very minimal effort.

Plecostumus or the pleco as its common name belongs to the group of ?algae eaters?. These fishes actually eat algae in your aquarium but they still have to be fed though. You can always find this fish occupying the lower level of your fish tank. Though the fact that plecos are not that beautiful, still, the plecos are considered important by many fish keepers.

Gouramis - Including the Dwarf, Blue, and Kissing Gourami. These fish add a nice element of size (they are not huge, but a blue could grow to 4+ inches) and color to any community tank. Most people that are interested in aquariums are familiar with the Kissing Gourami and a pair will make a great addition to most any tank.

Another species that mixes well with others are the swordtails. These freshwater fishes have deep orange colour. Males have a sword-like tail contour and that?s where swordtails got its name.

Corycats is another aquarium freshwater fish you can have for starters. Not until you have more than one corycat in your freshwater aquarium that you need to worry. Corycats can be your tank?s caretakers like the plecos. A school of corycats can also be the patrollers in your tank.

Danios have many varieties like zebra, leopard, and giant danios and are all popular. They are active and seem that they don?t tire out. They are hardy fish. Some people find them difficult to care because of their too much constant activity.

Goldfish are the favorite of plenty people. They have an endless variety. Colors, fins, size, eyes, scales are some of the things why people can?t resist them. Goldfish are very tolerant they are not so sensitive to changes in water temperature. Changing the water often is a must because this aquarium freshwater fish produce a lot of waste.
